Whitewater rafting, hiking, swimming, picnicking, gold panning, fishing and camping fill the spring and summer months in El Dorado County. The beautiful Sierra Nevada mountain range welcomes winter visitors with pure snowsporting pleasure. Stay in one of many comfortable hotels or bed and breakfast inns. Take home souvenirs from historic towns, choose from the area's over 50 wineries or take advantage of one of the unique dining experiences El Dorado County has to offer.

South Lake Tahoe is the most populous city in the county. The east end of the city, on the California-Nevada state line, is mainly geared towards tourism, with T-shirt shops, restaurants, hotels, and Heavenly Mountain Resort with the Nevada casinos just across the state line in Stateline, Nevada. The city extends about 5 miles west-southwest along U.S. Route 50, also known as Lake Tahoe Boulevard. The western end of town is mainly residential.

Hundreds of farmers and ranchers produce an amazing abundance and variety of agricultural products. In spring the many types of fruit trees begin to bloom and add their rainbow of pastels to the landscape. Early vegetables such as asparagus and an array of citrus crops are available at a number of ranches. With May and June the many cherry orchards offer their delicious fruit.

Mountain air, warm country hospitality and the harvest atmosphere are a tonic for visiting city residents and their families. El Dorado County has something for every taste, all year round.

California, the Golden State. It is BIG. If you get to go once in your life time these are "must explore" areas to consider: The Cascades of northern California, the Central Coast where doing the coast highway is imperative, and SanFrancisco and the entire Bay Area. For something entirely out of this world we recommend Death Valley and the Califonia deserts. Of course there are other areas you might like, (a true exploration of this fabulous state can take a life time), so make good use of this site to get around. We also make our entire database available to you on your cell, so if you are on the road use VISNETMP.COM.
