Mendocino County, where rugged coastline, breathtaking beaches, picturesque villages, majestic redwood forests and America's Greenest Wine Region beckon you to escape to a slower pace. Combining the best of the outdoors with the finest aspects of living well, Mendocino County embodies the very best that California and Mother Nature have to offer.
The county is noted for its distinctive Pacific Ocean coastline, Redwood forests, wine production, microbrews, and liberal views about the use of cannabis and support for its legalization. It is estimated that roughly one-third of the economy is based on the cultivation of marijuana.
You can sit by the fire, savor a delicious Mendocino vintage, stare up into a mighty redwood tree or watch migrating whales from the porch of one of the many unique inns. The county seat is Ukiah. The notable historic and recreational attraction of the "Skunk Train" connects Fort Bragg with Willits in Mendocino County via a steam-locomotive engine, along with other vehicles.
Serenity and wilderness plus indulgence and enjoyment all await you, just a couple hours north of the San Francisco Bay Area where you'll feel so far away from it all. Mendocino County has nine Indian reservations lying within its borders, the fourth most of any county in the United States.

California, the Golden State. It is BIG. If you get to go once in your life time these are "must explore" areas to consider: The Cascades
of northern California, the Central Coast
where doing the coast highway is imperative, and SanFrancisco and the entire Bay Area
. For something entirely out of this world we recommend Death Valley and the Califonia deserts
. Of course there are other areas you might like, (a true exploration of this fabulous state can take a life time), so make good use of this site to get around. We also make our entire database available to you on your cell, so if you are on the road use VISNETMP.COM
