Tulare County is located in the Central Valley of California, south of Fresno. Sequoia National Park is located in the county, as are part of Kings Canyon National Park, in its northeast corner (shared with Fresno County), and part of Mount Whitney, on its eastern border (shared with Inyo County). The county is named for Tulare Lake, once the largest freshwater lake west of the Great Lakes and now drained.
Opportunities for all-season outdoor recreation include hiking, water and snow skiing, fishing, white water rafting and boating. Visalia, the County seat, is the gateway to Sequoia National Park and a variety of recreational activities. The city is within a four hour drive of either San Francisco or Los Angeles, and a 2-1/2 hour drive of California's central coastline. The extensively cultivated and very fertile valley floor in the Western half, has allowed Tulare County to become the second-leading producer of agricultural commodities in the United States.

California, the Golden State. It is BIG. If you get to go once in your life time these are "must explore" areas to consider: The Cascades
of northern California, the Central Coast
where doing the coast highway is imperative, and SanFrancisco and the entire Bay Area
. For something entirely out of this world we recommend Death Valley and the Califonia deserts
. Of course there are other areas you might like, (a true exploration of this fabulous state can take a life time), so make good use of this site to get around. We also make our entire database available to you on your cell, so if you are on the road use VISNETMP.COM
