Tuolumne County (pronounced "To All o' Me", with a silent N) is located in the Sierra Nevada range of California. The northern half of Yosemite National Park is located in the eastern part of the county. The county seat is Sonora, the county's only incorporated city. Its proximity to Yosemite makes it a perfect vacation destination, with plenty to offer including hiking, biking, fishing, river rafting, camping, gold panning, skiing, and sightseeing.
The towns of Sonora, Columbia, Jamestown, Twain Harte, and Groveland have much to offer in the ways of arts, festivals, theater, shopping, and entertainment.
Over 3.7 million people visit Yosemite each year: most spend their time in the seven square miles of Yosemite Valley. Designated a World Heritage Site in 1984, Yosemite is internationally recognized for its spectacular granite cliffs, waterfalls, clear streams, Giant Sequoia groves, and biological diversity. Almost 95% of the park is designated wilderness.
